As a junior insolvency associate, I recently had the opportunity to step outside the office and observe a Bankruptcy hearing in court.Walking into the courtroom for the first time is a moment that will remain with me throughout my career. From assisting with the preparation of documents to sitting in the courtroom and observing the proceedings, each step offered an important opportunity to develop a clearer understanding of how it is ultimately reflected in the proceedings before the court.
One of the most interesting aspects was seeing how the Judge navigated the statements from both parties, asking further questions to clarify the statements.
This showed the importance of reviewing the key details before making a decision. The hearing proceeded as a quick and ordered process, with the Judge guiding the case efficiently, whilst giving each party a fair opportunity to be heard.
It was a memorable experience that offered a new and valuable perspective on how the process works in practice.
