Meet The Insolvency Team

Martin specialises in corporate insolvency and turnaround, audit and strategic planning and is senior partner of the practice. Martin has wide commercial experience being a director of a property development company and former chairman of a not-for-profit company operating in the leisure sector. 
Martin also has a significant involvement in the local business community and voluntary organisations; Martin is Chairman of Westminster Circle, Old Suttonians Association, Old Suttonians Football Club. President of the Southern Amateur League and Sutton Federation and past-Chairman and past-President of the of the Amateur Football Combination.

James specialises in all forms of insolvency having worked in the industry for many years; working alongside Martin and Andrew he heads up our insolvency department.  James joined the practice in 1988, qualifying as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1996 and also qualifying as a licensed insolvency practitioner in 2002. 

Andrew specialises in corporate recovery and turnaround assignments working with business owners, lenders and other stakeholders from an advisory perspective through to formal insolvency procedures. During his career at two London based insolvency practices and Turpin Barker Armstrong his sector experience has been varied and his work has involved assisting many small owner manager businesses through to dealing with several high profile restructuring assignments. Andrew has extensive experience of business recovery procedures including solvent and insolvent liquidations, company and partnership voluntary arrangements as well as administrations. Andrew regularly works with lenders where there are concerns over director conduct or fraud and forensic investigations are necessary. In addition, Andrew has worked on a number of Fixed Charge Receiver assignments.

Katie is a highly experienced insolvency practitioner specialising in corporate insolvencies particularly complex administrations, receiverships, voluntary liquidations and advising on a wide range of non-formal insolvency solutions. Katie joined the firm in March 2016 and was made Partner in 2021. 
JIEB-qualified in 2018 with a first-time pass, Katie combines strong technical expertise with a commercial, solutions-driven approach. She was also a prize winner on achieving her CPI qualification in 2013.
Known for her pragmatic, empathetic and results focused style, Katie supports stakeholders through complex situations with clarity and confidence.
Outside of work, she enjoys netball, travelling, and spending time with her three children.  

Ryan joined TBA in 2004 and, barring a 6-month break to travel the world, has been part of the Insolvency department ever since. Initially joining as a junior member of staff, he worked his way up in the practice and was made Partner in April 2021.  
Ryan is a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner who specialises in corporate insolvency procedures, particularly voluntary liquidations and administrations, and has dealt with businesses in a broad variety of sectors, including hospitality, construction, and pharmaceutical, along with legal and financial advisory firms. He also assists in agreeing informal arrangements with creditors (including HMRC) for both corporate entities and individuals.
Outside of work he enjoys football and golf, as well as spending time with his young family.

Having obtained a degree in Biochemistry Lindsey joined a mid-tier accountancy practice in London as an audit junior in 1989, transferring to the insolvency and corporate recovery department in 1991.  Lindsey qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994 and went on to sit the JIEB exams in November 1997, achieving a first time pass, and getting her licence in early 1998.  Lindsey’s experience in London was mainly of administrative receiverships, company voluntary arrangements and voluntary liquidations, together with more latterly some experience of independent business reviews on behalf of banks. 
After 13 years in London and 2 children later, Lindsey decided to move out of London to be closer to home and joined Turpin Barker Armstrong in 2003.  Since joining TBA Lindsey has also gained experience in personal insolvency as well as continuing to work on corporate insolvency. 

Louis joined TBA’s Insolvency Team in June 2023, having previously worked in the City for nearly 10 years. He has a broad range of experience in dealing with administrations, CVLs and advisory projects aswell as Compulsory Liquidations, MVLs and Bankruptcy cases. He studied for the JIEB exams in 2019 achieving a first time pass and is a licensed Insolvency Practitioner. 
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with friends and following his beloved Manchester United. He also spends the occasional afternoon hacking around a golf course.

Phil joined the TBA West Byfleet Office (formerly Gibson Hewitt) in 2001. He qualified as a chartered accountant with the ICAEW in 2004 and subsequently studied for the Joint Insolvency Examination Board (“JIEB”) exams achieving a 1st time pass in 2006. He was granted FCA status by the ICAEW in 2014.  
Phil has been a manager since 2006 working in all areas of personal and corporate insolvency.  
As former elite level marathon runner, Phil can still be found at the gym each morning but admits adopting a far more laid back attitude these days. 

Roger joined TBA in June 2024 and has over 25 years of insolvency and restructuring experience working for a variety of big 4, mid-tier and boutique firms in London and Surrey. His commercial understanding of the pressures faced by businesses was further developed during a spell working as head of finance for a SaaS software company with a worldwide client base. A qualified Chartered Accountant and Insolvency Practitioner with extensive experience of formal administration appointments and pre-insolvency advisory including business and cash flow reviews, options analysis and contingency planning with engagements predominately with mid-market corporates. Sector agnostic but recent experience has included property and construction, manufacturing and internet sports betting. 
Outside of work Roger enjoys cycling in the Surrey Hills and getting involved in his son’s football team.soon

Peter joined TBA’s insolvency team in January 2024. He worked as a Deputy Official Receiver in the Insolvency Service with over 20 years insolvency experience. Peter worked in the Official Receiver’s Public Interest Unit and London offices on complex investigations involving criminal insolvent matters, prosecutions, contentious litigation and asset recovery. 
Peter is a keen early morning runner who also coaches football and cricket to children at Molesey Juniors FC and East Molesey Cricket club. 

Matt joined TBA in February 2007 after earning a degree at St Mary’s University and has since gained vast experience in corporate insolvency, including Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations, Compulsory Liquidations and Administrations. 
In his spare time, Matt enjoys socialising and spending time with his family and friends, as well as playing and following most sports, including cricket, golf and football. 

Chris joined TBA in July 2024 and has over eight years of insolvency and restructuring experience. During his career, Chris has gained vast experience in the profession, having worked on trading and non-trading administrations, CVLs and MVLs across a broad range of industries. Chris obtained a degree in Accounting and Finance and is currently completing his ACCA exams to become a chartered certified accountant. 
Outside of work, Chris enjoys playing and watching football and golf, travelling and spending time with his friends and family.

Michaela joined TBA in March 2023 bringing with her 15 years of insolvency experience. Michaela started her insolvency career at Begbies Traynor in London where she worked for 9 years gaining her CPI qualification which she passed first time. Michaela has worked on a varied case load including Corporate and Personal Insolvency including trading Administrations. 
Outside of work Michaela enjoys spending time with her family and taking her daughter on days out, as well as going for walks with the dog and of course shopping! 

Philippa has been working in insolvency since 2013 and has been at TBA since March 2015.  Philippa manages a portfolio of cases including Administrations, Company Voluntary Arrangements, Voluntary Liquidations, Compulsory Liquidations, Receiverships, Individual Voluntary Arrangements and Bankruptcies. Philippa obtained her CPI qualification in 2014 and is currently working her way through the ACCA exams to become a chartered certified accountant. 
Philippa is a big foodie, and in her spare time enjoys cooking and socialising with friends although her great love in life is to travel.

Vedeena has recently joined the firm, having over 12 years’ experience in insolvency.  Vedeena spent over 11 years working for a mid-tier accountancy firm in the City and has experience in dealing with both personal and corporate cases, including complex bankruptcies and investigation work. Vedeena manages a mixed caseload of personal and corporate cases.
Vedeena has a degree in law and is CPI qualified. She is currently studying towards her JIEB qualification and is a member of the R3 womens networking.
Away from work, Vedeena spends time with her family and two young boys and enjoys baking and cake decoration. 

Sylwia joined TBA in October 2017, working as a Senior Insolvency Consultant. Sylwia is a Polish professional who has lived in the UK since 2003, she is a member of several groups of polish professionals including Polish Professionals, Polish Business Link and Women’s Business Link of which she is one of the Co-Founders.
Outside of work Sylwia enjoys snowboarding and basketball.

Ayomide joined the firm in October 2020 bringing with her over three years’ experience in insolvency, with experience in corporate appointments including but not limited to Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations, Members’ Voluntary Liquidations and Administrations. She is currently studying towards her ACCA qualification to become a chartered certified accountant.
Outside of work, Ayomide enjoys travelling and socialising with friends.

Gabriella joined TBA in November 2023 bringing with her a wealth of insolvency experience. She started her insolvency career in 2005 and over the years she worked on a varied caseload initially, Bankruptcies and Compulsory Liquidations before taking on other types of corporate cases including, Company Voluntary Arrangements, Administrations, Members’ Voluntary Liquidations and most recently predominantly dealt with Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations. At TBA Gabriella primarily deals with corporate and personal case closure.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and getting out in the great outdoors.

John joined TBA’s Insolvency team in April 2018, having previously worked for MHA Macintyre Hudson where he started his Insolvency career in 2013.
John has experience in both personal and corporate insolvency and his caseload has primarily consisted of Members’ Voluntary Liquidations, Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations, Compulsory Liquidations and the occasional Bankruptcy.
Away from work, John enjoys attending boxing and football events, trying different cuisines and socialising with friends and family. 

Lauren has recently joined the firm, having many years’ experience in insolvency. Lauren started her insolvency career in May 2012 with a caseload of predominantly MVL’s and CVL’s. She has since expanded her knowledge with BKY’s and WUC’s. Lauren is a big foodie and in her spare time she likes to eat out at new restaurants. Kieran joined tba in April 2019. He attended the University of Southampton, obtaining a BSc in Economics. His current caseload consists mainly of Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations but he also has experience assisting with Administrations. He is currently studying towards his CPI qualification, hoping to sit the exam in 2026.
In his spare time Kieran likes rollerblading and playing/watching all kinds of sports. He’s also a huge music lover who enjoys going to concerts regularly, learning to play the bass guitar and even producing his own music.

Chris joined TBA in March 2020 after completing a placement year at Gibson Hewitt between 2017 and 2018. In 2019, he obtained a BA (Hons) in Financial Management for Business from the University of Portsmouth.

Victoria joined TBA in March 2017 bringing 10 years Corporate Restructuring experience from a big four firm. She qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2010 and her experience includes complex trading insolvencies to smaller cases including advisory work across a range of sectors. Victoria primarily deals with corporate and personal insolvency case closure.  

Deji joined TBA in July 2022, after graduating with BsC Accounting and Finance at the University of Essex. After gaining further experience as an Insolvency Specialist at Metro Bank, he returned to TBA in April 2025 to continue developing his career in insolvency. He is currently working towards the CPI qualification and hopes to progress onto the ACCA in the near future.
Outside of work, Deji trains Brazilian jiu-jitsu (and is no stranger to a good submission, in and out the office). He also enjoys the gym, football and spending time with friends and family.

Ien Joined the firm in February 2025 having transitioned from professional rugby to financial services and now to Insolvency at TBA and currently studying for ACCA exams.
Outside of work he remains a rugby fan going to watch his old club and spending family time with two young kids. 

James joined the practice in July 2023 on a placement year as part of his degree in economics and finance at the University of Surrey, James successfully graduated in the summer of 2025 and joined the practice on a permanent basis.
In his free time James enjoys watching and coaching American football as well as cooking and spending time with family and friends. 

Jed joined the firm as a Junior Associate in 2022 as part of his gap year. He continued working at the firm part-time whilst studying Economics at the University of Bristol, joining the firm on a permanent basis in June 2025 after his degree was complete.
In his spare time Jed enjoys cycling as well as playing and watching football. He also enjoys watching movies and socialising with friends and family.

Keshika joined TBA’s Insolvency team as a Junior Insolvency Associate in May 2023, having previously worked in the Education sector.  She attended the University of Hertfordshire where she gained a degree in Education Studies and is ready for a new challenge in her career, with more chance for progression. 
Outside of work, Keshika enjoys spending time with her loved ones, socialising with friends, and travelling. She also enjoys cooking, reading and keeping fit by going on family walks with her dogs.

Rebecca joined the firm as a Junior Associate in August 2020 as part of her gap year, she is now studying Psychology at the University of York but continues to works at TBA in between her studies. 
In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys going to the gym, playing the guitar and piano, and socialising with her friends.

Tasneem joined TBA in July 2023 as a placement year student. She studies Accounting and Finance at the University of Surrey. 
In her spare time, Tasneem enjoys going to the gym and spending time with family and friends. 

Tom joined TBA in September 2023 at our West Byfleet office as a Junior Associate. Tom previously undertook a week’s work placement at tba (formerly Gibson Hewitt) back in 2017 whilst studying at college. Having spent the past six years working in retail Tom is excited for a change of career to insolvency.
Outside of work, Tom loves watching sport, going to the gym, cycling,  listening to music, watching films and socialising with friends. 

Tom joined the firm as a Junior Associate in June 2023 while completing a BSc in Economics at the University of Bristol. After graduating, he returned to TBA full time in June 2024 and has since advanced to the position of Assistant Insolvency Associate. Tom’s caseload consists mainly of Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations.

In his spare time, Tom enjoys playing football, watching movies, and socialising with friends and family.

Adrian joined the insolvency team in July 2025 for his placement year whilst studying at university.

Casey joined TBA in August 2025 as a junior insolvency associate while undertaking a placement year at the University of Surrey studying Business Economics. In her spare time she enjoys running and socialising with friends and family.

Gabriella joined TBA in October 2023 to gain experience, after her first year studying Policy & Economics at London School of Economics. 
In her free time, Gabriella enjoys reading and socialising with her friends.

Josh Joined the firm as a Junior Insolvency Associate in January 2024 to gain industry experience after his 2 years studying Economics and Management at the University of Sussex. 
In his spare time Josh likes to spend time with his friends as well play playing football and recently taken up golf. 

Josh joined our insolvency department in June 2023, whilst on his summer holidays. He is studying physical geography at the University of Liverpool, and is working to secure vital experience in the finance sector. 
Josh enjoys spending most of his time watching his favourite team Everton, going to the gym, as well as spending time with friends and family. 

Nathan joined the firm as a Junior Insolvency Associate in July 2024, currently undertaking a placement year while studying Economics and Finance at the University of Surrey.
Nathan enjoys playing football, basketball, and golf, going to the gym and spending time with his family and friends.

Nilany joined TBA as a Junior Insolvency Associate in April 2025. She attended the University of Kent, where she studied BA (Hons) Economics and Management.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Ollie joined the firm as a Junior Administrator in June 2023 and is going on to study Economics at the University of Birmingham next academic year. Ollie has just returned from a gap year where he spent time working followed by 2 months travelling in Asia.
In his spare time Ollie likes to go the gym and has a keen interest in sports.

Onyx joined our Insolvency department in September 2023. She attended the University of Birmingham where she studied BSc Economics.
In her free time she enjoys socialising with her friends and family and has a deep love for art and product design.

Sela joined the insolvency team in July 2025 for her placement year whilst studying at university.

Toby joined the firm as a Junior Insolvency Associate in September 2025 after studying a Masters of Engineering (MEng) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nottingham. He is working to gain industry experience as he is moving from engineering to finance.
In his spare time Toby enjoys spending time with his friends and family, playing rugby, and going to the gym.  

Anette is an insolvency cashier in our West Byfleet office.

Kelly joined TBA in May 2019. Kelly has worked in the accountancy profession for over 20 years and as an insolvency cashier for 6 years in the City of London.
In her spare time Kelly likes socialising with friends and family, travelling and shopping!

Linda has worked as a Insolvency Cashier since October 2009. She has a background of 33 years working as a Legal Cashier in solicitor practices having qualifies as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Cashiers and Administrators.  
In her own time she has also qualified as an Associate of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. 
Linda is married and has a grown up daughter. She spends her spare time helping to look after her daughter's horse, as well as gardening and card making.

Samantha has been at TBA since July 2015 as Executive Assistant for the Senior Partner, Martin Armstrong.

Jane joined TBA in 2009 and is PA to Partner Andrew Bailey.
In her spare time she likes to Knit and crochet.  She also loves gardening and walking with friends to keep fit.

Ronnie joined TBA in 2024 as PA to partners Ryan Russell and Katie Drake. Previously an Executive Assistant and Office Manager, she is excited to take on a new challenge within an Insolvency practice. 
Outside of work, Ronnie enjoys socialising with friends and family, reading a great thriller and loves to travel. 

Claire joined TBA at the beginning of 2025 as an Insolvency Assistant/PA.  Having previously worked as a Senior EA and Office Sales/Customer Support/Admin Manager in various sectors, she is eager to learn all about the Insolvency business.
Outside of work she has been known to take on several Ultra Marathon Walking challenges to raise money for a local children’s charity. She also enjoys pilates, gardening, hiking and spending time with her friends and family. 

Specialising in digital marketing Hannah deals with the whole firms marketing needs. Prior to commencing her marketing role Hannah was PA to Martin for 7 years where she gained valuable knowledge of the firm. Hannah's marketing role focuses on increasing brand awareness and the online presence of the firm. 
Outside of work Hannah plays hockey for a local team and has represented South East England in her age group; she also loves hiking, golf and any other outside activities. To find out more check out Hannah's Employee Spotlight.

Karen is the first friendly face that greets you when you call or visit tba. Karen joined the practice as a receptionist in October 2004 and has been an integral part of the team since. 
Away from work Karen enjoys gardening and sports. 

Our longest serving member of staff, Sarah, has been with the practice since 1984. With a wide range of responsibilities Sarah ensures that the office runs smoothly and efficiently– and if it doesn’t – she sorts it! 
A previous Akela and Brown Owl, Sarah is still involved in scouting in her spare time. She also enjoys travelling, eating out and being taken for a walk by her Border Collie. 

Joining the Practice at the beginning of 2022, Ryan oversees TBA's internal human resources and the practice Finances.
Outside work Ryan plays and spectates a number of sports. He also enjoys holidays with his family.

David joined TBA in Oct 2018 with a remit to setup a finance division having spent the last 25 years in banking, finance and credit insurance.
David brings a wealth of experience particularly in assisting business to raise finance whether through factoring / invoice discounting, stock or trade finance, hire purchase, leasing and using where appropriate, the new fintech lenders.
In today's uncertain times cash is still king and having sufficient working capital is crucial to all business.
Outside of work David is a keen Crystal Palace supporter for his sins and has spent the last 7 years driving his son around to various swimming and water polo competitions. 

Thomas joined tba in November 2024 straight from Sixth form having achieved A-levels in Business Studies, PE and Psychology.
Thomas is a qualified lifeguard but also enjoys watching football, socialising with friends and going to the cinema. His favourite film is Grown Ups 2.

Calum joined tba in October 2024 having moved back to the UK from New Zealand. 
In his spare time Calum enjoys watching and playing football, spending time with friends and family and reading anything History related.
