Having received a couple of enquiries for insolvency advice from business owners in the vaping sector I was bringing myself up to speed on the changes that have been implemented by Government in recent times. These changes involve the ban on the sale and supply of single-use vapes from 1 June 2025. There are also additional requirements on how businesses are required to dispose of waste.
You can understand the purpose of the policy but from a practical perspective I suspect it is going to leave many businesses in this sector in a position whereby they are carrying large quantities of stock which cannot be sold. The question mark will be whether they have the resources available to dispose of the stock properly and adapt to the changes to have a viable business. I suspect that there may be some landlords receiving their premises back full of single use disposable vapes in the coming months.
Changes like this remind me of just how quickly the business landscape can change in different sectors and in particular when Government policy is implemented.
