Insolvency statistics – November 2023

The insolvency stats for November 2023 are out, with the total number of insolvencies up again from last month.

All the data is taken from the monthly stats created by the insolvency service.

The graph below shows the total number of company insolvencies each month since November 2019 and is split by the type of insolvency.

We are still following an overall upwards trend in the total number of insolvencies since the start of 2021.

There were 2,466 registered company insolvencies in November 2023 in England & Wales

  • 21% higher than November last year (2032 in November 2022)
  • 151 more cases than last month (2,315 in October 2023) 

These figures are made up as follows: 

Creditors Voluntary Liquidations - CVLs  = 1,962 - 23% higher than November 2022

Compulsory liquidations = 359 - 22% higher than in November 2022

Administrations = 133 - 1% lower than November 2022

Company Voluntary Arrangements - CVA's  = 12 - 20% higher than November 2022

Receivership =0

Moratorium = 47 between 26th June 2020 & 30th November 2023
